14th August marks Pakistan’s historic freedom from British colonial rule in 1947. This day is remembered as a day of pride, sacrifice, and freedom. Yet one must wonder: are we truly independent? Have we freed our minds? And are we truly free from corruption, injustice, poverty, and inequality? Yes we have achieved border independence, but real independence has its foundation in dignity, justice, and opportunity. True freedom means a Pakistan where no child is forced to beg on the streets instead of attending school, where women no longer fear becoming victims of honour killings, where students are given equal opportunity regardless of their background, and where deserving individuals are not silenced by the powerful. The dream of a peaceful and prosperous Pakistan, as envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam, feels distant today. We must not forget the sacrifices made by our leaders and ancestors to achieve this nation. It is now our duty to reclaim real independence. This day is not only a celebration, it is a reminder that we must demand change, seek justice, and call for honest and visionary leadership to build a better future. In the words of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, “With faith, discipline and selfless devotion to duty, there is nothing worthwhile that you cannot achieve.” Let this day be a source of inspiration for progress, not just celebration. Pakistan Zindabad.
